CH Inhibitor test

Jun 27, 2006 1 Replies

I took up advise from this groups and drained some water from my CH system into a clear glass jar. I then inserted a nail and left it for 2 weeks. No rust yet. What has happend is that the nail has developed a black coating not gone rusty. Does this mean I have to add inhibitor?

TIA

Well, that probably is rust, limited by the amount of oxygen in the volume of water you have. I'm told that adding a coin or two (coppers) makes the test work better (electrolytic action presumably).
