How to blow out inground sprinkler lines

How about a shop vac? Suck the water out for each valve "circuit" at the lowest sprinkler head for that circuit. A hundred feet of 3/4 PVC pipe holds about 3 gallons.

flooding in basement - need help fast!

I like the idea of a GOOD shop vac. What typically happens in cellar floods, there is a lot of water and wet stuff that is distant from the sump pump. So, he will be able to pour the water into the sump easily enough. My shop vac is one of the old 6 gal metal ones.

From the washer to the dryer

While I had it away from the wall I stuck the ol' shop vac up the dryers business end and up the exhaust vent. After I looked in the shop vac and found a rather large clump of lint. Started the dryer and the timer DID work on a timed cycle.

Defogging double pane windows

Actually our local glass shop would measure, order, obtain the units and install them for about 10 times what I pay at the factory. Considering that I did most of the work when the local glass shop installed them, I call it a rip-off.

Quieter muffler for generator ?

I've had a muffler shop make pipes for me before so I could add a different muffler to a small generator. You could find a muffler for a very small car like one of those 3 cylinder jobs.

Saw Kickback

Piece shot back to back of shop where lathes were. Hit piece spinning. That goes into shop orbit. That was in the late 60's though. Whole thing may have been a hallucination. In reality, I could have been sitting in a parking lot and a couple of birds just flew over.

Best way to clean refridgerator compressor cooling coils?

I use one of these in conjunction with a shop vac. The shop vac sets up suction to carry away dust bunnies that are dislodged by using the brush.

Gasoline in the walls...

Shop vacs generate sparks with their crappy little motors....sucking vapors through shop vac is a good way to get an explosion. Every couple years someone in SoCal blows up their residence by washing greasy clothes in washing machine with gasoline.

Patio glass door roller repair - help needed

Load up the door and take it to your local door/window shop. NOT a big box store. You want a shop that actually knows what they are doing. I was sure that I also had to replace the rollers last week.

Buying Carpets at Home Depot/Sears

If the last place you bought a rug was at a small downtown shop (or even a mall store) then I would expect the big box experience of HD or Sears to be more of a western style of buying.
