Have you tried a real plumbing supply shop? The one size fits all crap has never fit anything I have, but a good local plumbing supply has never failed me.

if you take it to a machine shop, they can use a mill to get it out. it might cost you more to fix it than replace it though.
maybe a pressure washer or shop vac, depending on your soil. rent a trencher and run some water pipe also deep enough below frost line and some electrical conduit too.

Your nearest pool supply shop should carry O-ring lubricant. It's kinda like Vaseline and it holds up really well on the rubber O-ring on our pool filter. AJS
