Our wiring shop, (mumble,mumble years ago), handled Litz wire daily. The approved stripping method was a meths lamp, then wipe away the carbon with isopropyl.
Shop around. TLC are reasonable. You can, but don't expect the car battery to last long. 3 amps at 240 volts is 60 at 12. Ish.

Ah, shop mode - I'd forgotten about that. I did try turning the colour down quite a lot but it didn't seem to help, perhaps that's why.
I worked in a shop where we sold those. I spent a lot of time troubleshooting what customers had done with them.
Then I suggest you take a careful look at the VAT breakdown on your next big shop and you might be surprised at what carries VAT
260 mm doesn't seem to be a standard size: you could get a 230mm plus saturday delivery from screwfix - or maybe use a hire shop? Pete
