OT: Shop Fuel Tank

My shop is heated with an old oil burner. The tank is a 38" by 60" cylinder which I believe is 300 gallons. Because the tanks sits on a stand on its side I need to know how to convert the inches remaining in the tank to gallons. The input pipe is on top and currently shows 15" on the ...

material for shop floor

The rough in for the shop (450 sq ft) is 3/4 ply glued and screwed to 12 inch TGI joists. I have been looking for material for the floor. One thought is "car siding". If you turn it over it is a flat surface.

Shop Electrical - Suggestions Wanted

Just completed shell of new shop. ( 22' X 20" ) Wood frame on slab - vinyl siding on OSB with vapor barrier for exterior. Interior - 10' stud walls. (2) small windows mounted high . . . Double doors to one side in front & one side door near rear.

I'm getting a rare opportunity to make a new shop from scratch. I'll get all of a three car garage. We'll have a separate barn/outbuilding for the lawn equipment and bicycles and such.

Another "shop walls" thread

A while back, when someone had queried about a good material for shop walls, someone else responded with a suggestion to include 1x4s inletted into the studs at two heights for the eventual attachment of cabinets. I don't recall the heights he recommended.

Not since I got a clean stream Gortex filter for mine. It can be banged out, blown out with a compressor and or washed. The use of a cyclone type top on a trash can also helps the condition.Some of the heavier dust drops out there.

Do not use an installation like this. It WILL shed its blades, and at that speed, they will do some damage to anything down wind of it. The combination of vibration from a gas engine and increased RPM's from the blower's intended usage will cause it to fail after a period of time. I have direct ...
