New Fine Woodworking magazin almost made me ill

I just got the new Tools and Shop edition of Fine Woodworking. After browsing through quickly, it looks like there is some good stuff once again. However, the picture of the burned down shop in the middle of the magazine almost made me physically ill.

Dust Collector in a Basement?

My first basement shop, even with dust collection, allowed a LOT of dust to collect throughout the basement. My second basement shop was walled off from the rest of the basement and that, coupled with a good DC system, keeps the basement pretty spotless.

ROS/ DC Connection

I have a Rigid shop vac and two Rigid sanders. The hose from the shop vac fits into the sanders perfectly, after removing the sanders' dust collection bags. So it's essentially just plug-and-play to hook the sanders to the shop vac.

OT Can people not do mental arithmetic or use a calculator any more?

I know my card PINs, but have to note down my building access PINs for when I don't go there for a while. I just store them disguised as phone numbers of fictitious individuals in my phone's contact list.

Sears will gradually disappear

I "outfitted" my "new"...lol since my old shop was the trunk of my car...shop just after I got of of College and the military in the Mid 60's... 20 mile drive into town to Sears, Wards, & JC Penny or a 150 mile hike to the big city that had a store that sold expensive machines...

Need help Getting Rid of (Sheet Rock/Plaster) Dust in Basement

But there was no doubt in my mind it was made by Shop-Vac. All the parts were the same design and shape as one or another Shop-vac. Also, Wal-Mart might have had models made by Shop-vac, in Wal-mart colors.
