tile over sewer traps

I am going to tile over my basement floor (12x12 ceramic on concrete slab). One problem. There are two sewer traps that I would like to have access to so that I can clean them out once a year or so. One is currently covered with plywood (about 11"x11") and the other has a

1/4" steel cover (about 15" x 12"). I would just attach the tile to the covers, but full tiles will not fit right and partial tiles will look funny. I was thinking of glueing some type of padding (maybe carpet pad) to the back of full tiles and just laying them in place over the trap covers. This way there is some flexiblilty so that when they get stepped on, they won't crack. What do you think? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
