Caulk type and color for new exterior door

I just added a pre-hung exterior door to the side wall of an attached garage. The house has blue aluminum siding and the door and trim are white.

My question is what type of caulk should I use for the spaces around the exterior frame where the aluminum siding goes in under the door trim.

My guess is to use 100% silicone although the tubes say silicone is not paintable. As far as color, I am assuming either blue (if it comes in that color) or clear -- because I think that will result in the white trim being a straight edge and that will look better suing white caulk and having a jagged white edge around the door.

Oops, that last line should have read,

I would go clear though GE makes a paintable silicon. Watch out for dating on silicone. If they are out of date don't buy them.

Also don't silicone the outside bottom edge of the threshold unless the manufacturer says otherwise. You want to give water a way out.

Thanks. Makes sense. I'll try that.
