Like, Direct Vents must be, at least, 3-feet from any operable opening and can't be any closer than 1-foot to any eave (see image). Chimney-less setups that use PVC pipes strapped to the building exterior or buried in the walls become the chimney, but need to meet chimney roof exit requirements and the intake must be goose-necked away from the adjoining exhaust pipe...can be a little ugly or odd looking.
