Thermostat current rating (oops!)

My plan now is to bypass the tracks and the contacts with some wire. Hence the only part of the stat I'm putting 6 amps through is a relay rated at 8A resistive.

They're wimps.

Then you just need to toughen your feet even further. I know people who can grind broken glass with bare feet.

could run a 6A fanheater with it? I was going to upgrade the relay in it, but I've found that it already has an 8A relay. The only reason I can see for rating it as 3A is the circuit board tracks, or the connectors (see photos).

a circuit board track?

'a degree in Digital Microelectronics' * you claimed.

Can you not work that out? it's just A level Physics FFS

....where the impedance of a track can be a essential to the successful operation of a design. It isn't just 1's and 0's. Basic engineering fundamentals to anyone with an electronics degree.

There's more to learn than be fitted into a degree. That's why there are Masters, PHDs, professorships.....

Hmmm, it certainly makes you wonder. Never mind, he has a degree so he's the bee's knees :D Ya hafta laugh.
