1:1:6 is the common one.

Depends on the sand. Play with a 1 lime to 3 sand mix to start with but you may find 1:4 or even 1:5 okay.

That's a cement/lime/sand mortar you're describing there, 1:3 lime/sand for a plain lime mortar.
