I have a couple of cables to my computer in my office that run across the carpet. I am trying to stick then down with something. I have given up trying to find a supplier of about 1 metre of the non trip rubber cable ducting they use in offices for this type of thing. (Maplins supply it but a =A325 odd per pack) Duct tape wont stay down nor will any other tape I have tried. Anybody any ideas?

do wider ones for multiple cables too.

Best thing is ribbed rubber matting. Rather wider than the cables. It will take up the minimum height needed to cover them unlike any of the other things - which are more designed to protect the cables at all costs.

You'll find it here:-

Ebay is probably a good place for this sort of thing.

Should get you started, Depending on the size you might need, should get what you need for about a tenner at the most

If you really can't reroute or put in a new socket or six, you may well find that the hooked side of Velcro will tack to the carpet very well. (I once tried anchoring cups on a car dashboard shelf with bits of carpet and Velcro. Couldn' t then pick the cups up though ;-)

Presumably these are network rather than mains. Cat5 can have the outer sheath removed and pairs separated, leaving 4 separate pairs, each very low in height. These can all be run under carpet. There is a degree of risk of damage, so best to run 2 cables when you need one, then a later repair is easy if ever needed.
