air entraining additives

Getting nearer my concrete driveway project, and I'm repondering mix details.

It Appears that readymix PAV2 concrete et al includes an air entraining additive to make micro bubbles in the set concrete, these supposedly increase protection of the concrete from freeze/thaw cycles of future winters...

I'm mixing my own 5 ballast to 1 cement.

Is standard mortar frost proofer suitable ? Or something else?

I wouldn't bother. I've never used frost proofer in concrete and haven't any experience of subsequent problems.
