OTish Pipeline gas leak

From what I understand, the leak in Alabama was discovered by someone visually spotting gas on the surface.

You would think they had flow meters in the pipe and would have been able to detect the leak at the office.

Anyone know how long they think the pipe was leaking before the leak was discovered?
