TOT: Branston pickle

I bought a jar of Branston at the weekend. I see the label says 'NOT FOR EXPORT'. Any ideas what might be the reason for this? Could it be preparatory for Brexit? Possibly lack of multilingual labelling?

People seem to Relish the chance to bring Brexit into a discussion. The product being sold by different licensed distributors in overseas markets is more likely the reason.

Probably just marketing.

Like Yorkie bars weren't for girls. I don't know of anyone who refused to sell one to a girl.

We are in a right pickle :-)

I thought of that but the other jar I have does not carry this wording. The one in question was bought at a discounter. I wondered if it could have been manufactured abroad not for export to the UK. As far as I can see, there is no mention of other production sites in Wikipedia.

My question was purely out of curiosity not to start a Brixit debate.

Perhaps Yorkie bars were considered too large, unlike Mars bars ...

LIke Mansize tissues? Now called 'extra large'. I would have sent the marketing team away for a weekend to come up with something more creative. I wondered about 'optimised for heavy colds'.

Does that explain why all the coke cans at my local kebab shop are in german ? Well they were last time I was there about 1 1/2 ago.

And and why the A4 boxes that are blue with a yellow handle and an EU sticker are now 20% cheaper than other colours that don't have an EU sticker and a date sticker dated 28/11/14 . Well why shouldn't we save taxpayers money, just because the boxes are in EU colours we're not racists against EU boxes ;-)

The EU would send them much further to a plush hotel for the next 8 years to negiotiate a suitable name that no one would find offensive ;-)

In her biography she denies it. Richards let the police in, and it's most unlikely that she and Jagger would have let themselves be caught in flagrante. Another example of police malfeasance, I suspect.

A lot of smaller retailers and pound store style shops seem to sell some well known brands but sourced as a Grey import ,sometimes it may even have been produced somewhere in the Middle East judging by the Arabic writing. Some may even be counterfeit but when the PTB cannot even intercept all the cheap cigarette imports looking for fake food brands is not the highest priority. Working in a technical position would have thought you had a logical mind, Kebab Shop points to Turkish owners who may well deal with a Turkish owned wholesaler . Turks as long term migrant workers in Germany have a presence there. The wholesaler has rellies in the business over there who gets a good deal and sends a container load of cans to the UK where they end up in Kebab and Turkish ,Turkish/Cypriot businesses.

Given the Pound is low against the Euro, shows that Coke regards the UK as a nice little earner.

Are you suggsting perhaps that this turkish wholesaler might not be paying the correct taxes or be able to get certain things cheaper than anyone else. ?

I thought we needed trade deals in order to do this sort of thing.

I don't rememebr much about the Hokey Cokey, guess I'm too young for that s ort of behaviour, something about sticking your right boot in, was it some sort of facist march ?.

But I still don't understand why it's cheaper to get Coke from turkey than it is from anywhere else, do we pay more because we are (currently) in the EU or more because we are not in the USA ? And they sold cans of beer outsixde of licensing hours, just £2 a can. in the 90s it was £1 a can cheaper than going to the offy.
