Stove register plate to pipe seal

Okay I've had my lovely stove for getting on for a year now and I really want to fix the pipe/plate seal good and proper. Fed up with vermiculite seepage!!

So what have people done that's a succesful long term fix? I've heard of a special tape (what is this called) and high temp silicone - though black is hard to source for a decent price. The gap is ~4mm

Solutions & links please

Cheers, Mike W

I tried high temperature silicone with the Aga. The silicone deteriorates in a few months.

After trying different kinds of fire cement I found a pliable heavy duty one called Warrior FCB1

one, together with a suitable stove rope has worked very well for about four years with no signs of cracking at all.

The shipping cost exceeded that of the products.
