Home network

Does anyone know to setup a complete home network.ie cable tv, dvd, hifi and computer. I dont want to end up with multiple sockets in each room but a compact multi plug system. I think this would be a hard wired system but I bow to your judgement. Any info on suppliers, articles would be appreciated.

If you Google for "structured wiring" you should get lots of ideas.

Forget it. Easier to have a unit in every room.

distribute mains power, any aerials you have, your computer network, and then just buy audio/visual equipment for the room

Otherwise you end up with a nightmare of cabling that still will only get you the same station in every room.

I think the simplest solution is to run 600mm conduit under the floors, to allow you to run cables easily, when you choose to.

Hi Ronnie

Not quite sure what it is you are trying to achieve but if you are meaning what i think i have intergrated networks in to several houses and industrial premises, they usually consist of cat 5 cables for computer networks & telephone /data for voice over ip coxial cables for tv, cable, dvd ,speaker & individual telephone cables can also be incoperated, one of the best and most varied connection accessoriesis mk's grid system individual connections are available for diferant aplications ie network sockets coaxial points in both plug (male & female) and satalite/cable screw connections the modules are allmost endless if you go to your local electrical wholesaler and ask for the mk catologue.

Depends on what you have running it and how expensive your taste in audio gear is.

for hifi you need to avoid hum. Simplest way to do this is use a cat 5 pair and drive it at low impedance, ie on an 8 ohm output.

TBH I dont know what info you want
