OT: Power Suppliers

Good morning folks, Scottish Gas will soon be ripping me off even further with dual fuel power costs and I did a check on the UKPower website for comparisons. They came up with Telecom Plus which would save £134 a year approx. Has anyone any experience of them? The other closest option was Powergen saving £95. Anyone any thoughts? Thanks WM

Wait a few weeks, because prices have started to move (BG started it). The relationships between suppliers' prices may well change.

Changed to them for gas & elec feb this year & I'm happy. Had to correspond with their customer services on a changeover problem (previous supplier screw up) and they were helpful & reasonably efficient.

As Bob said, I'd let the dust settle before jumping; it will take up to 6weeks for the change to kick in anyway.

In the process of shifting from PowerGen (nee, TXU Energi, nee Norweb) to Scottish Power due to Powergens price hike (due any day now) and removal of any standing charge based tarrifs(*). Electric only, no gas up here.

(*) The "no standing charge" tarriffs are not much more than a marketing excercise unless your useage is pretty low, generally less than 2 to 300 units/qtr. Notice how the extra amount you pay for the first 2 to 300 units/qtr equals the amount of the standing charge...
