OT Hospital waiting lists

Yes but... in one of my two examples the letter confirming referral to the audiology dept. mentions the current waiting time of 12 to 18 months and specifically asks that you do NOT telephone the dept *with regard to the waiting lists as this letter indicates that you are in the correct place in our waiting list*.

OK so the practice is not endemic. Nevertheless there is a distinct flavour of waiting list *management* in oversubscribed treatments.

My only direct experience was being moved from the casualty reception area at 1 hour 59mins. and then waiting a further 20 mins. in the treatment room with no TV and a less comfortable chair.

In the case of my wife's Aunt, she had moved to a residential care home and changed doctors within the waiting period. However, the audiology dept. were notified of her new address and presumably her original doctor knew where she had gone.

The test will be; if they now jump about and fix her up in less than the usual time:-)
