OT Google

Anyone using Google Groups with javascript switched off?

It seems the company has taken aversion to anyone who wants to use its facility without seeing the adverts.

Or at least, I am getting warned off from their site by notices telling me I might be part of a botnet and need to verify I am compus mentis by filling in one of their snivelling little forms.

Posting this from AOL's IE version seems to allow me full facilities. What newsvendours are supplied with a decent ISP these days?

Seems to work perfectly well with Firefox.

..and if you install 'Adblock' as an add-on you can automatically zap the ads without affecting the functionality.

There was an error like that in Google Groups a few weeks ago, noticed by very many people. I had the problem off and on, and it went away. I made no changes to javascript or anything else. Just type their stupid word and press enter, and wait for yet another new version of Google Groups.

I use Google groups all the time for news - there are no adverts.

There are, certainly some of the time on some of the pages - 'sponsored links' over on the right hand side.

Ah, OK. I never paid any attention to them. Obviously too much time on his hands if he's got time to faff about trying to get rid of them. Nothing like as bad as the full page ones on Yahoo groups where you have to click a link to get past.
