I see that the BBC's chief political editor, that Laura Kuenssberg, has been assigned a body guard for her time at the Labour Conference after threats from left wing thugs and trolls.
Says it all, really.

It does. That the establishment will always protect their own. But not the likes of Joe Cox.
Did she work for the BBC?
Was she killed by left-wing activists?
Sorry to be pedantic, but it was "Jo Cox".
Oh don't be silly
the idea that every MP should have an armed body guard every time that they go shopping is entirely impractical

As usual, Our Dave makes it up as he goes along. Had Jo Cox been getting threats prior to her killing? LK has.
To be honest if we have to resort to violence against individuals then democracy has truly failed. Quite why the bbc should be targeted is anyone's guess. Brian
What's the source for this? Last report I can see refers to the election.
It was all over Twitter yesterday, and although that's a good reason for labelling it fake news, it was being reported by people you might be inclined to believe.
Today it was front and inside pages news in the Times.
Lefties have accused her of bias. So apparently she gets trolled in soshul meeja and the usual panoply of threats made.
Really?
Pretty well every public figure who uses social meja gets threats, and she certainly did. I take it you don't live in this world?
See above.
So she was going shopping when murdered, was she?
Dontcha just love the way the right wing makes things up to suit their beliefs...
She was going about her business as an MP. Please explain how that is different from Kuenssberg going about her business as a TV reporter?
But no-one has resorted to violence against Kuenssberg. She may well have had threats made on social meja etc - but so has just about every person in that sort of position.
Surely you've realised by now the world is full of keyboard warriors?
And Chris Williamson MP has repeatedly refused to say that any Labour members who abuse or threaten her, or any journalist, should be expelled from the party. Open season for thugs and bullies on free speech and the media.
You could start with the difference that the Ms Kuenssberg is an employee of the BBC so the BBC owes her a duty of care.
MPs are not employees so, while I agree they need protection as much as employees if they face credible threats, there is no employer under a duty to provide it.
I envy you your access to knowledge about the threats made against her, and how the police and others have assessed their credibility. In the absence of such knowledge, only an idiot would pretend to be in a position to judge one way or the other if the protection provided was justified.
Why would any normal person use social media
If you spout anti British slogans as an MP you put yourself in the nutter firing line. A BBC reporter is merely reporting the facts as spoken and needs protecting from the left wing rent a mob present at all socialist meetings.
