[OT] 99 Octane petrol

Here in the states they're starting to use 85% Ethanol.......Hybrids you know. How would the M3 and other 1 to 4 strokes measure up to that?

I have a 4.8ltr 03 chevy silverado 4x4 that does quite well on

87octane.........but if I go to ethanol I'll have to retune.and that's not covered under anything, as far as I know.

Thought's?

Petrol is very different over here. 87 octane US petrol is equivalent to approximately 91 octance in Europe. 95 is normally the lowest available in Western Europe. 91 would be considered fit only for lawnmowers. Besides, most people use diesel these days!

Ethanol has excellent octane rating, but unfortunately has a low energy content, so a litre of it isn't worth anywhere near as much as a pure hydrocarbon based petroleum.

My main thought is "Sorry, I understood each individual word, but the sentences didn't add up to much at all".
