If you put in a new and larger electrical service does the code require you to replace Knob & Tube?

I just bought a house with K&T; we are upgrading the panel to 200 amps, but leaving the K&T in the attic, etc. The electrician said if the quality of the wiring is good enough, it doesnt need to be replaced when we put in a new panel. (hopefully, b/c re-wiring everything is expensive!!)
