I had a friend check it he took a broom handle and stuck it in the hole and the hold handle went in. What should i do.

I had a friend check it he took a broom handle and stuck it in the hole and the hold handle went in. What should i do.
I'm not a Doctor, but I'd say you should fill your holes regularly. Wad up some newspaper and shove it in the hole(s) a few inches deep, then fill that up with concrete or cement...your choice.
