Dryer drum won't turn when door is closed. I have checked belt and rollers, they all work fine. Could it be the door switch? (2023 Update)

Sure, it could be the door switch, the motor, a failed electrical connection, a shot controller, a broken spider cage, etc. Try replacing what you think is worth a shot and then call an Appliance Repair if that fails. However, you're possibly halfway to a new dryer if you get to the Appliance Repairer or suspecting the motor or even controller, so you may be better off with new...stuff is built stupid and to be replaced anymore.

Yes, it's possible that the door switch is the cause of the problem if the drum is not turning when the door is closed. The door switch is a safety feature that prevents the dryer from running when the door is open, so if it's not working correctly, the dryer won't start. Here's what you can do to check the door switch:

  1. Locate the door switch: The door switch is usually located near the door of the dryer and is activated by a button or lever when the door is closed.
  2. Test the switch: You can test the switch with a multimeter by checking for continuity between the two terminals of the switch when the door is closed and again when it's open. If the switch is working properly, there should be continuity when the door is closed and no continuity when the door is open.
  3. Replace the switch: If the switch is not working properly, you'll need to replace it. This is a relatively simple repair that can be done with basic tools.

It's important to note that there could be other reasons why the drum won't turn, such as a problem with the motor or the control board. If you've already checked the belt and rollers and they seem to be working fine, it's likely that the door switch is the issue. However, if you're unsure or not confident in your ability to make the repair, it's always best to consult a professional for assistance.
