Can I get homeowners insurance without having someone come inspect my home? Also does homeowners insurance cover my well water?

I never actually had one that required an on-site inspection. The idea is that you truthfully answer the questions about your house in the questionnaire they send you / ask you on the phone / want you to fill out online and then, when you submit the claim, if the real situation differs from what you described, they deny your claim. Sounds like a powerful enough incentive to tell them the truth in the fist place and save the cost of the inspector's trip.

Why are you concerned, anyhow? Is there a particular issue with the house you are thinking about?

As far as the well - what type of coverage are you looking for? If it's an insurance against a well going dry, I would seriously doubt it (but perhaps there's already a new insurance product on the market that does it). If it's the integrity of the wellhead on your property, then perhaps the answer is yes. This is something that that you really should ask an agent before signing. I find it very useful to give them a call even if you have (or considering to) purchased the coverage online. Sometimes (pretty much every time in my experience) a human being can find details of your coverage that you don't need and lower your premium, even if a bit. Sometimes dramatically - I just had one such experience calling the Ins. Co. to complain about a serious increase only to find out that I was paying for coverage that I didn't need and had the premium reduced $700 (lower property values since the policy was established also played a role).

Anyhow, I don't think you should be concerned about a visit from an inspector, unless you want that yourself, in which case you would have to pay for his visit outside of your policy contract with the insurance company. As far as well coverage - definitely give all the Ins. Co. who's quotes you are considering a call and ask a human being about the well.
