Behr deck stain/paint

I bought a 5-gallon bucket of Behr deck stain/paint. I thought it was stain. However, my niece opened it, stirred it real well, and began to "stain/paint" a few deck boards. It is rather thick like paint and rather orange looking instead of looking like a wood stain. I would like for the nice wood grain to show. Is there anything I can do, add water/add different color or kind of stain to make it look more like a wood stain? Thank you. Debbie W

I realize it's too late, but for future reference. Take it back to the store and exchange it for what you want, by utilizing the store's trained and even directly experienced staff. You should only ever use a product for what it's meant to be. Watering-down or diluting affects more than just looks.

- Yes I know, "professionals" do it all of the time and get away with it. Well, all I've ever seen from the overwhelming majority of "professionals", is that they use their knowledge to cut corners and maximize their profit...giving you an inferior, failing and even illegal and dangerous future.
