I really need a little more detail information. Is this a heat pump on a gas, electric or oil furnance? The blower motor on the furnance will run anytime the heat pump is running if it is a split system. If the temperature gets 2 to 3 degrees below the thermostat setting, the back up heat will be on in addition to the heat pump, which may be what you are seeing. However, without knowing the thermostat set point and the indoor temperature I can not really tell for sure.
