Re: Old bandsaw needs parts - but where to find?

We have an old 12" bandsaw that needs an upper wheel, unfortunately

>there is no nameplate on the saw or model number to go by. We think >it might be a Warner & Swasey because some of the parts have "WS7a" >and WS11 stamped on them.

Don't quote me but that might be a Yates-American from the "W" line.

Can anyone recommend a place that might sell parts for this old horse? >Oh, and it looks to be for wood not metal (even though Warner & Swasey >made a lot of metal working tools). I could be wrong, though.... Try at the OWWM?

Is it likely that ANY 12" wheel would fit?

Not likely unless the wheels were the same bore.

Thanks for the great lead. I've written them an e-mail to see if the part numbers match up. Hopefully, they'll say yes.

Turns out the bandsaw is an old Craftsman (probably a Walker-Turner vintage late 30's). Who'd a thunk it? Saw someone selling one on Ebay! The internet is a marvelous place for solving mysteries. Of course, I still don't have a source for a new upper wheel, but at least I now know what bandsaw I'd dealing with here.

Thanks to everyone who replied....
