Powr-Kraft 10" RAS manual

Does anyone have access to a copy of the manual for this saw (TPC2910B)? The saw works great, but I have no idea how to use the Power Panel/20,000rpm shaper. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the saw and manual. The 20,000 RPM aux shaft is 15/32". It takes aspecial 1/4" router collet or a special 1/2" shaper spindle. After much searching, I found both and will dig around for the address/phone number. If you want the manual, I can copy and snail mail or scan and email, but that will be some large attachment(s).

You can also use a router speed control with this saw as it has a universal motor. In fact the motor armature is the 20,000 shaft and the

3450 RPM shaft is geared down from the high speed shaft.

Don't know if they're still in business, but I bought my router collet, shaper spindle and spare brushes from Deco at (314)353-4900. They may also have the manual.

Doug ...

Yeah, I figure it's a crap shoot which tools they have parts for and which they don't. This summer I took a drive up to East Windsor to see see if I could get some zero-clearance inserts for my PowrKraft table saw direct from the source. The guys at Tool Kraft were very nice and took some time to answer my questions but apparently they never made zero clearance inserts for my model, so I left empty-handed.

Thanks for the info. I'll try Deco and see if they still provide those parts.

Just as a question of utility, do you use the router/shaper feature much? Other than sign making, what applications do you use this for?

I use the router as an overhead pin router - put a 1/4" straight bin in the collet and a short 1/4" metal rod in a 1/4" hole in the table directly below the router bit. A pattern taped to a rough cut piece is guided against the rod while the rough cut piece is matched exactly to the template. Lets me quickly make identical odd shaped parts.

I also use the router with V-bits, beading bits, etc. for decorative surface work. This can be crosscut or rip. I find I need hold downs to keep these kind of cuts consistent, especially for rip operations.

I've also used the router to make round tenons on dowels.

I have several Grizzly 1/2" bore shaper cutters - straight for edge jointing, glue joint for glued up panel prep, and tounge and grove. I'll be using the glue joint today for six panels for a dining room table, and later, the groove cutter to groove the table frame to accept the rabbeted edge of the panels. I'll use a stacked dado for the rabbets.

I'll also be using a rotary surface planer to thickness plane the stock as I don't have a regular planer, or for that matter, a jointer. I try to get stock that is acceptably flat, but can flatten with the rotary surface planer with the stock shimmed on a sled.

I'll also be using a drill chuck on the low speed aux spindle and an aux table to do horizontal boring for the mortices in the table frame.

And I'll be using a molding head on the blade arbor to put a decorative bead on the lower edge of the rails.

Other than these kinds of operations, I don't use the RAS much :-)

BTW, I've had this RAS for 33 years. SWMBO got it for me the first Xmas of wedded bliss.
