Medicine Cabinet is not shutting flush anymore.

I discovered this morning that my wood medicine cabinet is not closing flush anymore. The top part is still open about a 1/8 inch or so. I do not think it is the hinges since when it is open and even shut it is level. I think that the wood has bent, but I do not know how to go about proving this and/or fixing it.

Thanks,

Chris

And here I thought that somehow the medicine cabinet had affected the mechanism inside the toilet...

Sounds like the moisture in the bathroom has possibly warped the wood. You can check to see if it is "twisted" or warped with a straight edge.

No clue how to fix it though. That can be suggested by someone else.

Hard to say....

I assume that this is made of solid wood. Has all sides of the wood been finished equally? Can you shave someting off the front of the side panel and bottom to shut the door. Can you easily refinish any shaved parts?

It should be solid wood, it was built with the house. As far as refinishing the wood, I wouldn't even know where to begin. But it does look like the wood might have gotten warped though. Thanks though, I might be trying this option if all else (that does not require refinishing/repainting) fails.

That'll be tricky...to shave AND to work on the back of the mirror at the same time. Reminds of a Norman Rockwell painting...but in a blender.

What kind of hinges do you have on the door --are they European/blum? If so maybe they came loose and need adjusting. Put a straight edge on the front and sides to see if it is warped.
