Continuing to avoid handcutting the dovetails in the 8/4 work bench apron by making another kid project. This one's a basset hound out of an old redwood fence board. Other than the bandsawing the parts, kids can do the rest - sanding, drilling, tapping in dowels, applying the bug spit finish (that's shellac to adults) cutting out and glueing the felt ears and best of all for kids, hunting through a hobby shop to find wooden wheels and axles.
Have posted some images in alt.binaries.pictures.woodworking Take a look if you need a fun kid project.
