Issue with keeping the fence stable on my JT360

Hello,

I have a Delta JT360 jointer. Lately the fence will not stay stable for me. It moves (wiggles) in and out across the bed of the jointer. It doesn't move from 90, but the other way. I have tightened the two wing plate but they just seem to move with a little pressure. It worked better in the past. Not sure what may have changed.

Thanks

If it really stays at 90 degrees, maybe just pivot it to one extreme and put a clamp behind it to hold 'er. It'll work, until you can figure out why things have loosened/worn out. Check your owners manual? Tom

Larry,

I'm not aware of the design of the JT360 jointer fence, but many jointers have a single handle that locks the fence but the fence can be moved in 2 directions, both tilt and slide. In the forward position the handle locks the tilt function and in the back position it locks the fence sliding function. If you aren't aware of this 2 function locking capability, you may have inadvertently loosened the slide function lock and are now trying to lock the fence position using only the tilt lock. Check your jointer to see if the handle can be moved forward toward the jointer and back toward you. This handle movement is about 1" to shift between these 2 functions.
