The Northern Virginia Carvers offers free carving lessons at Colvin Mill Park on first and third Sundays of the month during the summer. The next session is July 15 - from noon to 4 pm.
The park is on Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) about 7 miles west of Tysons Corner towards Leesburg. Just follow the signs when you get there. It goes from noon to 4 pm.
Kids 6-12 can make small carvings using rasp, files, and sandpaper --- They also furnish carving knives for adults.
