Having come to terms with the fact that anything metallic left at the front of the house will disappear, I tend to use this as a service. I took a steel bath out today. What are the chances the pikeys will be interested? (Just wondering whether the enamel coating makes it worthless.) If not, I'll have to get the angle grinder out to get it in the car and take it to the tip.
More technically, the sink and bath I took out were plumbed in copper waste, with an OD of ~30mm for the sink and ~35mm for the bath. Although this will all come out eventually and be replaced with plastic in due course, I'm wondering how to cap it off (just stuffed the ends with cloths for now), to stop anything undesirable entering while I work on other aspects of the room. Although I haven't tried, I'm assuming that none of the regular plastic fittings will work with this. Is there something purpose-made for this situation I should be looking for, or is this a situation for an unsightly (not that it matters) bodge involving some combination of expanding foam, silicone and gaffer tape?
