Which paint for wood to match plaster?

I'm busy painting plastered walls at the moment, using a bespoke (off-white) vinyl silk emulsion. There are some wooden battens on some of the walls which I want to paint to be as 'invisible' as possible, ideally using the same emulsion. I know that's not the kosher way to do it, but will that work reasonably OK? How best to prepare the wood - primer/undercoat first as for gloss, or not; something else?

I use Dulux Trade White Satinwood first onto bare wood - two or more coats as needed to 'lose' the woodgrain. Then use the same silk emulsion as the walls.

Emulsion is sometimes used as undercoat onto wood, so you could just paint it directly, but better to use a proper wood primer.

Just go over it first with some watered down emulsion, it'll be fine!

I'd use Glidden Primecoat Acrylic Wood Primer Undercoat on it. But that's only because it is lying around the house. If I really wanted it to look the same, I'd consider filling the wood, too, to make it smooth.

Whatever you do, don't use a solvent based undercoat, as some vinyl and acrylic paints won't adhere well and may bead instead.
