Wallpapering over new plasterboard.

I've just fixed a botch- up job on a wall in the kitchen (don't ask...!), and will be papering the whole room shortly. What preparation does the plasterboard need, to allow for possible re-decoration in the future without damaging the board?

Thanks,

Paint over with PVA adhesive, about one part PVA to 5 parts water.

However there's very little you can do to stop the board paper coming off when/if you subsequently remove the lining/wallpaper.

Regardless what you cover the plasterboard with, if your paper is sufficiently stuck to it for a good job then it's sufficiently stuck to it to pull some of it off during removal.

Steaming it off can certainly help in these cases.

It needs plastering first...applying paper to paper will cause damage upon removal, if you don't plaster it this time, it will probably need re-boarding and plastering next time.
