I used to have a job that occasionally took me out into the field as an assistant to someone installing and maintaining these things, and ISTR that you have to do something with the tamper switch to stop the row. Is that correct?
Failing that and assuming that the panel is wrecked, what would be a suitable replacement, given that I might also want to install a couple of personal attack alarms?
Had more time at it today than the previous rather breathless visit ...
But actually as far as I can tell the panel is functioning ok ...
Fault in sounder part of 24hr circuit - short out sounder SCB, hold in tamper switch, and panel resets ok.
Some questions:
1) I've remade the connections at the sounder, which were corroded, and tried closing its tamper switch with a cable tie, but the 24hr part of the sounder's circuitry still refuses to clear. Checking continuity from the panel with a resistance meter gives varying reading of KOhms in magnitude. Any ideas what might be wrong? 2) If we must get a new sounder, any particularly good value for money models? 3) If we wish to add a couple of PA buttons, again any particular recommendations? 4) Is there an industry standard of colour coding for the multicore cables used for alarm circuits, apart from the obvious red = +ve black = -ve?HomeOwnersHub website is not affiliated with any of the manufacturers or service providers discussed here.
