Urgent Help Needed - Fireproofing Metal RHS Posts

Hello All

I have opened up my kitchen and dining room and have two steel RHS posts 100x100x4, approximately 7ft in height set in concrete. These posts form the edge of the opening (there was no foundation one end of the opening as it was a door way and the other end of the wall was shot to bits) I have a 10ft RHS which will be welded to either post next weekend, this post is 200x100x6 and will run horizontal to form the top of the opening. This has been a major project and a major PITA but I'm getting there slowly but surely. However, that said, at the moment I'm stuck on what I should use to fireproof the steel posts and how I should go about fixing this fireproofing material. Does anyone have any ideas what I can use and where I can get it from? The BCO said I could use a single layer of fireboard but cannot seem to find that anywhere.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Richard

Travis Perkins should stock gypsum fire board.

This shows you how to use it:

The ones in my factory units simply use intumescent paint, which is available from commercial paint suppliers.

Hi,

Fermacall fibre reinforced plasterboard or equivalent will do it. The website or their helpline will have info on fixing it to RSJs
