This from a friend, today.
Gail arrived at five and stayed until ten past eleven last night. She spent most of the time telling us about last weekend, when the Sxxxxx under 11 football team, along with many other such teams, went to xxxxxx at xxxxxxx for some kind of tournament. Sxxxxx won all their matches except for the final, so did really well. But the match next to the last one was awful, because the large, black father of a large, black child in the opponent's team accused one of the Sxxxxx kids of making a racist remark. The ref was young and inexperienced, the black kid had deliberately injured (mostly with his boot) four of the Sxxxxx team, even so, Sxxxxx won the match. The black bloke continued to intimidate and verbally abuse the Sxxxxxx kids during the rest of the weekend, and there were fisticuffs, (there are two gypsy children in the Sxxxxx team). In the end, the Sxxxxxx kids were not allowed their runners-up trophies, and although they were at the last minute allowed into the presentation event, had to suffer being jeered at and booed by the black kid's team. It's appalling, really it is. Gail is in the process of writing strongly worded letters to the organisers, xxxxxxs, the FA, and Social Services. And poor Emily, normally a robust and confident child, has been quiet, upset and unhappy ever since.
We?ve given this country away to the undesirables, and imposed a morality based on hypocrisy and false premises. Too late now to do anything about it. The heroism of the past was in vain. Anyone going to Derwent Water on Thursday to watch the commemorative fly past? If so, watch it and weep for your country.
