This is a wickes thing then, not a TS counter inside the shop?

They'll save a lot of display space, so can probably get more stock in the same warehouse/
Apparently. They were a bit vague when I asked, but from what Huge is saying it looks that way.
A few years ago I called into a nationwide electrical wholesalers in Kent - never been in that branch before. The price of the parts was about £25 so I asked for discount and was refused. I then said "in that case put it on my account" - I then paid less than £10 for the parts.

My local Homebase has recently sprouted a mini-Argos inside.
Yep, solely Wickes, no mention of TS
(And I have no idea. I only wanted 3 sets of kitchen cabinet hinges.)
not surprsing since they are both owned by Home Retail Group (HRG)/
Is there still an Argos in the High St as well?
We have a Homebase shed and an Argos shed almost next door to each other, as well as an Argos in town. I wonder how long this is going to last...

We have a similar set up (Huntingdon - the Argos and Homebase are right next to each other) The town centre store and the larger store have both been opens some years.
Argos have been trialling various store formats. Such as a 'digital store' with less stock, online terminals that you can order for later collection (as well as online). 'Convenience' stores in urban areas - smaller stored linked with larger stores, that will get stock delivered from the larger local store for same day collection.
I think they are trying to play to their main strength over the online merchants which is same day/east local collection of goods
Our local builders suppliers have very strange pricing. A year ago, I bought 10 bags of sand three times in two weeks and got a different price per bag every time.

Argos closed the shop I liked the best, a place to order (for collection next day) and with only a handful of local stock. It was within walking distance of my house in West Bridgford.
One of these three, probably in the middle -
At Westward Cross they have two large stores right next to each other
The Homebase is almost empty (both of stock and customers).
They could easily rationalise down to one "click and collect" store, though in the current market they'd have trouble finding a taker for the spare unit, it's not in the most desirable location on the estate

But, it might be the lease they have is a long one with a big penalty clause. The Homebase store was probabaly set up when Sainsburys owned it.

Doesn't Cambridge have something in that line? Touch and go whether that's further than Newmarket or not.

Yes, Wickes, B&Q and Homebase all near each other, but Newmarket is a bit nearer

Cambridge does have a Homebase, but it's not only further, it's two miles inside the urban area whereas the Newmarket one is on my edge town.
Cambridge is the one I was referring to, with Argos and Homebase adjacent.
Have to say, the only shed I go anywhere near is Wickes (for wood only), and otherwise that part of town is a dead loss (there's another estate with more useful sheds around the corner, plus an industrial estate with TLC/Screwfix/Toolstation/Eurocarparts).
