The London buses

Sigh. No its going backward because the western world is as stupid as it ever was and everyone has forgotten the lessons of western philosophy. Which was largely a Judaeo-Christian run discipline up till around Kant.

Where do you find these straw men?

What I was saying was that science and the Western world was based on a Christian view of things, was later developed as an anti-Christian thing, and owes nothing whatsoever to Islam except a bit of mathematics.

Today we have in the West three profoundly anti-scientific movements, allied together. Greens, Socialist/Marxists and religious fundamentalists, of whom Islam is probably the most damaging.

And worse still, we have scientists who espouse non-science and think that science can 'prove' atheism, which is as mistaken as Newtons attempt to 'prove' God, scientifically.

I suspect the real problem is that too many people confuse spending 16 years in various schools and colleges with actually acquiring an education, and confuse learning 'facts' with learning how to think.

But that's socialism for you.

Not always, quite a bit of the time it is by providing a crutch for pathetically inadequate 'minds'.

And those who just need a crutch for their pathetically inadequate 'minds'

And f*ck all Christians operate like that.

Many other religions have that too, Islam rather more than Christianity does in fact.

Drivel. Christians went out and explored the world. Did a Chinese junk ever sail up the medieval Thames?

The ancient Iraqis were doing well until Islam came along.

No, the priestly class claimed to have knowledge that others were not privy to. Most promised life after death. But only if you believed in their particular sky fairy.

It wasn't Christians who invented either the boats or the astronomical navigation which enabled that navigation. It wasn't Christians who first crossed the Atlantic or the Pacific oceans. It wasn't Christians who first "discovered" Australasia or the Americas. It wasn't Christians who opened trade routes along the Silk Road. It wasn't even Christians who opened trade routes throughout Europe.

Indeed. At one point, about 480BC, the Achaemenid empire ruled about 44% of the world's population...
