Tap dismantling

I've got a tap that was dripping, and now won't turn off at all (I assume a problem with the washer), so I've turned it off at the service valve.

The tap is a Heritage mixer

looks like it. My first problem is how do I get the "label" off the centre of the tap ?. It is a ceramic item, which I think is a push in fit, but it is very reluctant to come out, and I'm wary of breaking it.

Any suggestions on how to proceed ?

TIA

Adrian

On some of my taps with ceramic H & C labels, the ceramic bits are a push fit and on others, they screw in. Have you tried unscrewing them? The only problem is that they get tight over time and, being domed, it's not easy to apply torque to them.

I presume you know how to proceed once you've got those off?

Ahh, just noticed it's a Heritage Bathrooms product. I won't be buying anything else from them...

Me neither. I once made the mistake and never again.

I am also having the same problem. I have just shattered the ceramic label but I still can't get to the screw.

Heritage : Never again.

At least your problem is not over two years old.

Does anybody know the firing order of my 1972 Ford Cortina? I pulled the plug leads off 40 years ago and can't work out which one goes where.

Sorry, but I no longer have my Haynes Workshop Manual.

Thanks anyway. My excuses for not having a job for 40 years are wearing a bit thin with the dole. But, at least I can say I tried to get my car going.

Generally 1-3-4-2, but could be 1-2-4-3

By any chance, has the engined seized up in the mean time?

Yes i was just thinking of the limescale build up on the drip on that original tap!
