Switch off but bulbs on(ish) puzzle

Simpler still, put one halogen bulb (out of the five) back in. Problem solved for the moment. ;-)

Which is the wrong answer.

There is more than one design for powering LEDs from the mains and price is not the indicator of which design has been used. You could have switched to a more expensive lamp from a manufacturer you recognised and still would have had the same problem.
