Stunning Service...

My old Bosch jigsaw finally died...

After long deliberation, and not without considerable diplomacy and skill at dealing with the "financial controller" I purchased a Festool PSB 300 EQ. As you would expect, it works really well, but I was a bit ticked to find that it didn't connect up to my "industry standard" dust extractor. I just didn't seem to have the right combination of adaptors to make it fit!

So, I sent an email to their support dept....

This morning I get an email from the Southern Area salesman - I'll be visiting your area - I'll pop in at about 5ish - That OK ?

Hmmm... Now this has never happened when I have purchased a B&D tool, nor with Bosche, not even Lamello...

Anyway - he arrived at 5ish, we had a nice chat about various issues, he sorted my problem and was on his way....

He did get a little worried when I told him about uk.d-i-y (he didn't know what a newsgroup was) and that he had now set a precedence.... :-)

Well done indeed. On similar lines (ok, not diy but customer service) we used to have two VHS video recorders. One went faulty so we decided to replace it with one of these new-fangled DVD recorders with hard drive so we got a Philips DVDR725H, which cost us £499 but is excellent and well worth the money.

We were so pleased with it that when the other VHS died we got another Philips DVD recorder to replace it, a DVDR610 at £175. Unfortunately it was faulty so I took it back and got a replacement which was also faulty, and another, and another - four faulty recorders in a row!

So I wrote a letter of complaint to Philips - upshot was that "as a gesture of goodwill" they supplied us with a DVDR725H (which, remember, was the model we had paid £499 for 6 months earlier) for the sum of £99.99!

We were well chuffed with that outcome, I can tell you :o)
