Strange central heating system.

Sorry, you've lost me completely!

In the circumstances you describe, the water in the cylinder is *already* hotter than the cyl stat setting, and the the cyl stat has already turned off - but the boiler and pump continue to run for the benefit of the CH. What further effect can the cyl stat *possibly* then have when the room stat turns off?

Please explain what you mean by this 'slug of water'. Are you referring to the water in the boiler continuing to get hot after the boiler has stopped firing, due to the residual heat in the boiler's heat exchanger? If so, this is hardly going to cause the water in the hot cylinder to boil.

no it wouldnt :) All it needs is timer pump and cylinder stat. The existing programmer controls the system same as now, the extra =A33 plugin timer is set to the same on time as the HW on the programmer, and simply gives assistance to the heat-up speed during that time. It makes no other difference to the system.

If the extra timer gets set to the wrong time for any reason, no harm is caused. If the timer is on with the programmer off, the boiler output circulates. If the timer is off with the programmer on, the system works exactly as it does today, with slow heating gravity hw.

it has enough interlock already. Adding the 2nd pump wouldnt change that.

sure. I was just offering a quick cheap simple effective option.

all thats needed is a mains supply near the tank. If thats in place, the components just plug in. No fixed mains wiring needed. Ideal for people that wouldnt dare rewire their CH to some new plan.
