Storing paint in the shed

Is there any good reason why I shouldn't store oil based paints in the shed? (I imagine water based ones would freeze, and this wouldn't do them any good. Is this so?)

Oil is fine but store them upside down.

Water based is not wise as the solids and water will separate if they freeze.

I store mine in the shed. But then, it is insulated and heated...
