Storage Boarding An Insulated Loft

A number of folk here have, over the last few years, asked about the way to go about boarding an insulated loft floor to provide storage (me included!) and there have been a number of very useful suggestions depending on depth of pocket and specific situation.

One of the methods asked about has been use of legs placed on the joists to provide an elevated location to fix loft boarding. However, these always appeared to be too feeble for anything but the lightest storage. I came across a fairly new product called Loft Zone Store Floor at the Ideal Home Exhibition and must say I was impressed with the design and stability of the it. Not that I need it as I went the rockwool, light board, 'Celotex' and top board (reused) route.

As always, wood uprights are much cheaper. Products like these make no sense.

Possibly if you're doing them yourself.

However if you are a council housing scheme spending other people's money then this makes excellent sense.

Give my regards to Dave Raval, Mike. You wouldn't be Mike Hardware (sic), would you?

Local authorities wouldn't bother to spend the money for such loft storage schemes - they barely have enough money to maintain their properties to a reasonable standard these days let alone 'improve' them.

As an aside to this. I believe that many local authorities in Wales have transferred their housing stock to Housing Associations who have access to the cash to bring the housing stock up to the so-called Welsh Quality Housing Level - and many contractors and sub-contractors are doing very nicely as a result of that scheme.

So it's just coincidence that the first time you have posted here was a promotion for a commercial product?

I said I do not know those people mentioned so you should have accepted that statement as being an honest one not behaved as one of the self-appointed Usenet police.

I have recently set up a replacement computer and have simply used a different Usenet persona in this setup; I previously used mailveil13 where you will also find me in genealogy, Bedfordshire, canon cameras, cycling, model-making, digital TV etc etc.

I do not have to validate myself to you but if you care to look in the archives you will find I have certainly not been prolific but I posted here at least in:

9 Oct 2012 Crown trade "cream" masonry paint for DIYer 17/06/2012 Oil versus LPG for Heating and Cooking 6 Sep 2011 Window draught-sealing strip 31 Mar 2010 11mm osb flooring (loft?) - the discussion that lead me to my loft solution that I mentioned in my initial message.

I did not make a promotion for a product; I had seen it at the Ideal Home Exhibition, was quite taken by it and was asking for comment as I am intending to move house (when I can sell!) and it may be appropriate for me in the next property. Are we not allowed to learn about commercial products for use in our DIY activities in your book? I would appreciate your apology for making the erroneous assertion that I was up to no good.

As mailveil13-usenet I see you as an intermittent poster here for several years - in fact further back than you have mentioned. It's unfortunate that the post you made - which I now believe was a genuine recommendation, not an advertisement - had all the trademarks of certain kinds of spam.

I'm sorry, I seem to have been wrong.
