Stone mullioned window

I need to replace the glass, externally directly glazed into a stone mullioned window.

Currently it has (broken) 4mm opaque glass in it. Shape - er - complex. Star of David, panes 150-450mm, triangles, hexagon and arcs - deep-set, very substantial masonry.

What are my options for fixing the glass, what's best?

I was thinking butyl bedding tape on the inside, but not sure outside.

What sort of glass (toughened/laminate etc) is best?

It can take a few more mm in glass thickness, but not a sealed unit.
