step in insulated flooring

The start date for the re-flooring exercise approaches.

Those contributing may recall that there is a possible issue with obtaining sufficient depth below existing in a Victorian construction without undermining the foundations.

The original flooring has a small step between two rooms.

If necessary, how does one create a robust step without bridging the new insulation?

One cold bridge won't totally invalidate insulation.

Wood is not a particularly GOOD insulator, but its better than masonry.

So use a block of hardwood, if necessary backed up by styrene extruded foam or spray foam.
